The Twelve Days of Christmas

Here are the kids "helping" to put together the 12 Days of Christmas that we sent to our cousins. The tag said:
"On the ____ day of Christmas, my COUSINS sent to me..."
It was fun and challenging because they continued to ask which candy was for them and when they could eat the candy. It was hard to drive the point home that we were doing this activity for SOMEONE ELSE... not for us. The honest response was a disappointed "Oh". In the end, they had fun as we took pictures and sang the 12 days of Christmas.

Joseph Smith Birthplace Memorial

Thanks to our friends Kathy and Tim, I think we have a new Freeman Family Tradition! Saturday after Thanksgiving we drove through New Hampshire to visit the Joseph Smith Birthplace memorial located in Sharon Vermont. On the way there it SNOWED! Bonus for the kids. They were soooo excited to see the first snow of the season. We really enjoyed our visit. No one was hardly there when we arrived which was great for us because the kids could run around all that they wanted.

Happy Birthday, Spencer

Lilly at Her Best and Spencer Chillin'

I don't know how many pictures I have of Lilly with some food substance on her face but I am pretty sure I could fill an entire photo album of pics like this one. She's somethin' else.

With six children age six and under... bath time is a big deal. Generally speaking the kids get a bath every night. It's exhausting at times. On this particular night, our dear Lilly was having a fantastic time in the tub and did NOT want to get out. Well, I was on a mission to get all the children bathed and in bed by a certain time so, I pulled her out of the tub kicking, screaming, and protesting. After, a physical battle to get her pajamas on, she was all ready for bed. As I was working to clothe another child I neglected to notice that Lilly was no longer in the room with me. This is where I found her... Oh well.

Here is Spencer at Stake Conference enjoying a good movie in the Relief Society Room while Mom and Dad try to enjoy the adult session of Conference over the intercom.

Merry Christmas!

With wondering awe the wise men saw
The star in heaven springing,
And with delight, in peaceful night,
They heard the angels singing:

Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna to his name!

With wondering awe we look back on the past year…

Darrel completed the didactic portion of his studies in June and began his hospital rotations at Mercy Hospital. He enjoys the practical application of working with patients and staff. There is great anticipation for graduation in November of 2011.

Nicole and her travels… Caribou, Bar Harbor, and Bethel just to name a few in Maine; the Lake Winnipesaukee Region, the scenic Kangamangus Highway and the Upper Valley Region all in New Hampshire; Newport, Rhode Island and three trips to Maryland.

Daryl Cinnamon turned 6 in November. She also lost her first tooth on September 30. She learned to swim this summer and LOVES the water. She is now learning to skate on the ice and thinks hockey is great. She’s quite the DIVA as she wants her nails painted and is into lip gloss.

Corey turned 4 in January. On a visit to the Portland Art Museum, Corey reported that he likes museums that he can play in better. He really enjoys our regular visits to the Children’s Museum in Dover, New Hampshire. He has developed a love for animals, especially for two Cairn Terriers named Remy and Dooley who live nearby.

Nicolas turned 4 in January. This summer, he learned to ride a two-wheeler without training wheels. He would watch movies all day if his mom let him. Nic is quick on his feet and quick to explain why he should be allowed to do certain things that his mom does not want him to do (i.e. climb onto the kitchen counter and scale the bookcase).

Spencer turned 3 in November. He and Lilly are playmates and he calls Lucas his little buddy. He loves to wrestle with his big brothers and still stays close to mom all day. In addition to egg, milk and soy, Spencer is now allergic to wheat.

Lilly turned 1 in May. She learned to walk in July and she has been running since August. Her vocabulary is expanding but her favorites words are Mama, Daddy, Corey, No, and Yes. At Halloween we found out that she LOVES candy!

Lucas is our newest addition. He joined our family on August 2nd. His smile is contagious and he lights up the room. He is a pleasant baby who receives lots of love and attention from his older siblings. We are blessed to have him as part of our family.

The heavenly star its rays afar
On every land is throwing,
And shall not cease till holy peace
In all the earth is growing.

Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna to his name!

Happy Birthday, Birthday Girl!

DC turned 6 in November.

Gingerbread Houses

While serving my mission in Arizona, I was introduced to this spectacular family tradition that I noted: One day I want to do this with my own family. I am a huge proponent for creating and maintaining family traditions. Last year right after Christmas I bought Gingerbread house kits and stored them away. On Thanksgiving Day, I brought them out and this is the result. A whole mess of fun!

Painting

I am grateful for creative children who enjoy art projects and creating things with their hands. I am very hands on myself and it is fun to share that with my children. Buying a simple paint set and pad has been a great investment of time and resources. And it never gets old!

Loving the kids
